3 WAYS TO WEARABLE STYLE THIS SUMMER

When it comes to ageless style and effortless day-to-day dressing, I'm here to share there are only a few things to remember when building a summer wardrobe. For summer styling, linen is an easy solution to looking great while keeping cool as well. While also creating a foundation of separates, you can mix and match for any dress code……you need the right things.

With clever shopping, like at UNIQLO, and thoughtful styling, you can achieve so many unique and fabulous looks with a wardrobe of classic pieces and a good foundation of well-fitted separates.

MY SHOPPING GUIDE

1. WEARING COLOUR with style.

I love wearing muted colour tones rather than brights, and this season there are so many delicious colours to choose from, especially with the vast colour options available at UNIQLO. Blues, dusty pinks, earthy tones, neutrals and the classics (white and black) – but the trick is how you put together your look.

My favourite way to wear colour is as a 'colour block'. It could be head-to-toe of the same tone or a variation of the same colour. It is a statement in a very subtle way.

A light blue shirt in linen, styled back with a pale blue tailor pant for work. Or a white basic t-shirt with off white linen wide-leg pants (and a white sandal) for the weekend.

Also, try wearing neutrals back with a muted colour such as a denim blue linen shirt with tobacco slouchy pant for sophisticated casual. Or a terracotta linen blouse with dusty pink tailored trousers for a more dressy look.  This colour clash creates a modern take on wearing colour.

2. THE CLASSICS

If you want to build your wardrobe with linen essentials, UNIQLO is a great place to start. Made from premium quality linen, making each piece look and feel great to wear - yet the price points make it really accessible and even to stock up on more than one colour in your favourite shape.

Although many of the styles come in multiple colour options (the Premium Linen Shirt  comes in 12 colours), a great starting point is white, black or navy and a natural.

Think about longevity and wearability when selecting your styles. Build your wardrobe with 'forever styles' as this is a fundamental part of creating a core wardrobe. As without great basics, it's tough to build versatile looks.

Some 'forever styles' to consider are - the Premium Linen Shirt, Linen Cotton Tapered Pants, Linen Blended A-Line Sleeveless Dress

3. SOMETHING NEW yet wearable.

What I love about the UNIQLO linen collection is the versatility of the range. This season they have introduced some new shapes in linen

The linen trench coat is versatile for travelling or when you need something light to wear layered. A personal favourite is their amazing Belted Linen Rayon Wide Pants which work beautifully back with the classic linen shirt shapes, basic t-shirts and perfect for the office or worn casually. But it's the new shirt shapes that are interesting  - if you wear shirting often (like me), it is nice to have a variation to the classic styles you might already own, like the shirt jacket (love the pocket details), or the skipper collar shirt.

Lastly, something to remember is just because it’s a new season, doesn’t mean your current wardrobe becomes redundant. You may just need a few elements to add in to freshen it up.
